Free Form Fun

Again inspired by Jacqueline Gikow’s Polymer Clay: Creating Functional and Decorative Objects, I’ve been experimenting recently with free form vessels. My first such experiment was the Maple Leaf Bowl (last week’s Project of the Week), and today I have three more free form items to share. They’re much smaller than the Maple Leaf Bowl but are no less fun to make.

Each of these little trinket bowls was first rolled, shaped, and decorated as a flat object, and I then draped them over small glass bowls to bake. These tiny bowls are perfect for holding change on a dresser, offering a few morsels of candy to a guest, or cradling a small candle.

Click the photos below to zoom in. More free form vessels are in the works, and I’ll be sharing those over the coming weeks.
