Several weeks ago, I checked Jacqueline Gikow’s Polymer Clay: Creating Functional and Decorative Objects out of our local library. I was captivated by the beautiful vase on the front cover, and the beautifully photographed items throughout the book certainly caught my attention.
Last week, I decided to create my own take on the cover’s leaf vessel, and the result is my Maple Leaf Bowl. I chose gold, black, and tan for the bowl to create the impression of autumn leaves. I molded the bowl with a wide, open mouth to allow easy examination of each leaf. Last weekend, my leaf bowl was one of the most commented-upon items in my booth, and I can’t wait to make more leaf items in various shapes and sizes.
